Practical Approaches for Connecting Healthcare
Around the world, governments are looking to information technology to provide a “connected” healthcare environment to improve quality of care and efficiency while decreasing healthcare costs. The number of Electronic Health Record (EHR) initiatives within hospitals and across regions is growing rapidly.
InterSystems’ Global Managing Director for Healthcare, Kerry Stratton, will highlight key initiatives taking place around the world. Katharina Redford will showcase an innovative project from Australia that has transformed care delivery. Dr James Kong, a surgeon who led the Hong Kong Hospital Authority team in developing the eSARS electronic database, will highlight the importance of connecting healthcare and practical approaches for success.

Dr James H. B. Kong is a practicing surgeon who has played a long term leadership role in advancing the development and use of IT systems in the clinical setting. He played a major role in leading the Hong Kong Hospital Authority (HKHA) team in the development of the eSARS electronic database that facilitated the management of the 2003 SARS outbreak. After completing a stint as the Head of Health Informatics at the HKHA, Dr. Kong is currently involved in hospital management and informatics projects across the ASEAN region. |

He is a frequent keynote speaker on the issue of regional and national EHR strategies. |
