Australian Software Vendors Deliver “Connectable Applications” with InterSystems Ensemble

Ensemble Provides an Innovative Solution to the Problems Organisations Experience Connecting and Extending Strategic IT Applications

Sydney, Australia – September 28, 2006 – Australian software vendors TrakHealth, Medical Systems Design and Disclinc have expanded their businesses by developing and delivering “Connectable Applications” – using the Ensemble rapid integration platform from InterSystems Corporation.

Ensemble is innovative integration software that enables independent software developers and the IT staffs in hospitals, banks and other enterprises to rapidly enrich their current applications with valuable new functionality – including browser-based user interfaces, rules-based processes, and adaptable workflow that reduces custom programming requirements – without rewriting their applications.

Ensemble also makes applications easily connectable, radically reducing integration times and costs. With Ensemble, organisations can leverage investments in their current applications and transform them into integrated suites.

“Ensemble is an innovative solution to the problems organisations experience connecting and extending strategic applications,” said Denis Tebbutt, Managing Director for InterSystems in Australia.“ Our Australian software developer partners TrakHealth, MS Design and Disclinc are leading the way in solving these problems for their customers, and growing their own businesses as a result.”

Ensemble Enables TrakHealth to Achieve “FastTrak to ePR”

Australian-based TrakHealth has employed Ensemble to enable users of its TrakCare healthcare information system to avoid risky and lengthy “rip-and replace” projects typical of healthcare information system implementations. Customers have the freedom to choose key modules and quickly connect these with existing legacy systems and other vendors’ healthcare applications.

With InterSystems’ Ensemble as its underlying technology, TrakHealth has extended its functionality to offer a ‘FastTrak to ePR.’ TrakCare enables its customers to have an Electronic Patient Record, which is readily integrated with other systems, from the first module implemented.

“TrakCare is the only healthcare information system built on an integration platform instead of a rigid database system,” according to Darren Jones, TrakHealth’s Regional Director. “This breakthrough approach delivers benefits to our customers in just months, instead of the years required for typical health information system projects.”

MS Design Builds its Integration Business

Sydney-based Medical Systems Design recently extended its SurgiDat® medical inventory and sterilisation management application with InterSystems’ Ensemble rapid integration platform. SurgiDat’s inbuilt integration capabilities allows it to quickly and easily capture information built up in existing applications, speeding deployment and leveraging the value of existing information.

Ensemble also enables MS Design to quickly and easily integrate SurgiDat with existing hospital patient administration systems. This effectively links patient records with surgical instrument records so that hospitals can understand exactly which instruments have been used on which patients, offering improved healthcare outcomes with reduced costs.

“SurgiDat is one of the few healthcare software suites with inbuilt integration capabilities,” said Todd Kemp, a Founder of Medical Systems Design. “This gives us a real edge in offering solutions to hospitals, positioning us as an integration partner that can deliver sophisticated healthcare solutions in record time.”

Disclinc Provides More Flexible Solutions to Customers

Adelaide-based Disclinc has also based its Alphalinc SOA supply chain application suite on Ensemble. Alphalinc’s inbuilt connectivity means that Disclinc’s customers need only purchase those software modules offering them the greatest benefits. Alphalinc modules include solutions for Financials, Manufacturing, Distribution & Warehousing, Point of Sale & Back Office, and Advanced E-Procurement.

Using Ensemble, one or more Alphalinc software modules can be quickly and easily integrated with customers’ existing software applications, speeding deployment and maximising return on investment.
