InterSystems’ Partner DTI Introduces Liquid Media Solutions
to Australian Newspaper Publishing Industry
Digital Technology International Establishes Local Presence, Appoints David Page as Director – Asia Pacific Region
Sydney, Aust. – August 1, 2007 —InterSystems Corporation today announced that global application partner Digital Technology International (DTI), committed to supporting the future of the global news industry as a leading provider of innovative, enterprise-wide publishing software solutions, has established a regional office in Australia, appointing David Page as Director – Asia Pacific Region, and introducing its Liquid Media solutions to the Australian and Asia Pacific industry.
The announcement also brings DTI an important customer in Australia: Fairfax Media.
DTI’s Liquid Media architecture is built on the InterSystems Ensemble® rapid integration platform, which enables applications to rapidly connect with existing systems and processes. InterSystems’ innovative database and integration product line also includes the InterSystems CACHÉ® high performance object database.
“InterSystems is committed to supporting its software development partners around the world,” said Denis Tebbutt, Managing Director for InterSystems in Australia. “Through its Sydney office, InterSystems is providing DTI with additional technical resources to support Australian customers with complex integration requirements.”
“DTI can now provide what every news media company wants – a single vendor that can deliver systems for all areas of the business that are connected through a visionary architecture,” said David Page. “DTI offers a vision of how technology can transform the industry and support the evolution of how news is delivered and advertising is consumed in an increasingly multimedia world.”
The vision revolves around Liquid Media, which allows newspapers to share data, content and graphic elements with different systems across multiple channels (print, online, etc.). Through Liquid Media, newspapers can leverage their intellectual assets and flow them into any application or media format, regardless of platform. “DTI permits newspapers to work more effectively, share information more efficiently and increase profitability in the face of new industry challenges,” said Page.
According to Page, one major advantage of Liquid Media is that it frees data from the isolated ‘silos’ of existing systems, without the requirement that those systems standardise on a data format. “Although there are some advantages to standardisation,” Page says, “it’s almost impossible to achieve completely, and it can take years to convert every database at every newspaper in a chain. With Ensemble as our technology platform, we can provide value to our customers incrementally, and very quickly.”
Prior to transferring from its UK office to head the company in Australia, Page was a Senior Consultant with DTI, working with UK customers such as The Telegraph Group to help transform their operations through innovative technology. A British citizen with permanent residency in Australia, Page first moved to Sydney in 2000 and was Vice President, Sales and Marketing - Asia Pacific for Net-linx Publishing Solutions until returning to the UK in March, 2006.
